I’m Elisa Walker, the proud owner of Ocean Breeze CPA.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I am a CPA, a Chartered Professional Accountant. Chartered Professional Accountants undergo a rigorous program of education, apprenticing/articling, mentoring and, finally, gruelling testing before they are awarded the CPA designation. Before becoming a CPA I worked for different business owners in a variety of industries. After becoming a CPA, I used all of the experiences I gained over two decades working with other businesses and as a CPA in a small firm to assist my own clients. Ultimately, this inspired me to want to run my own business.

While researching how to go about achieving that, I found an opportunity to purchase an existing CPA public practice in Sechelt. It was a well-established firm, serving clients in Sechelt, Gibsons, Roberts Creek, and Pender Harbour for over twenty years, so I decided to take a closer look.

After investigating the firm and its favourable local reputation, I took a leap of faith, purchased the business and moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast in January 2020.

Since taking over Ocean Breeze in 2020, I’ve modernized many system processes, the phone system, software equipment, and various hardware tools. These technological and process updates have made accounting processes more efficient for clients and enhanced communication.

While meeting with my clients, I listen carefully to learn about their aspirations and targets. My goal is to discover how I can serve them better and in a way that is most meaningful for them.

Therefore, I try to be compassionate and put myself in my clients’ shoes which helps to anticipate their needs. I provide practical and actionable advice which assists individuals and their businesses in making sound financial decisions.

I’m also dedicated to helping people successfully end up with more money in their pockets. To achieve this objective, I sometimes uncover previous tax filing mistakes which help them recover significant tax dollars. In several instances, the savings have been into the low-to-mid five figures. As a result, it’s rewarding to let clients know they can expect a refund of over ten thousand dollars from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

When I’m not analyzing financial statements or working to expand my staffs’ knowledge, I greatly enjoy reading, and I’m a member of a wine club, which helps expand my knowledge and enjoyment of wines. I and my husband, Jay, have a blended family of four adult children who sometimes still keep us busy.

I also support mental health and addiction organizations, as this sensitive issue has touched my husband’s family and mine. We believe that donating generously to this cause will help open up a conversation around the subject and eliminate the stigma.

The other worthwhile charities I support include cancer, heart disease, homelessness, and third-world poverty.

I’ve enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise as a Chartered Professional Accountant in Sechelt, Sunshine Coast, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.oceanbreeze.ca.

Sincerely,

Elisa
